Anyway, I thought today's show was great. I've been getting interested in Turkish rock lately and I found myself drawn there since getting into King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. They have been making microtonal albums with re-fretted guitars that they had made. This led me down a rabbit-hole of youtube videos of Turkish classical guitar players and other Turkish stringed intruments. Anyways. Love the show, especially the opening Mescaleros track! Wish I caught it every Sunday morning.
Peace,
Andy Denton
Andy Dentonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17362383206935269513noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-425099647536010342.post-3414912721627885142023-01-01T19:57:27.099-05:002023-01-01T19:57:27.099-05:00Lou, thanks for writing! I checked WGXC's website, and I can't tell which episode of Global A Go-Go they broadcast on that day. Going by the calendar, it should have been the Irie Christmas Spectacular (http://www.globalagogo.com/2022/12/irie-christmas-spectacular.html).

But I'm guessing they weren't broadcasting Global A Go-Go at all on Friday Dec 30 at 11:27 AM. A song with lyrics in English that sounds like a jam band probably isn't something I've played on Global A Go-Go. Not that there's anything wrong with it!

Good luck in getting your question answered. You might want to check in with the folks at WGXC to see if they have any leads for us. Lyrics I could make out were "Ive seen the blue sky, broke prolong running live to hustle, a life I could never embrace." Was kind of a jam band sound, almost reminded me of the dead. In fact, Palenque's Lucas Silva is the compiler of this Abelardo Carbono set. And the Africolombia blog is a great read (in Spanish) and listen: http://acbia.wordpress.com.Bill Lupolettihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00193720801712560716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-425099647536010342.post-37771253289988329202013-10-18T07:30:44.574-04:002013-10-18T07:30:44.574-04:00Actually the ball got rolling with Palenque Record...Actually the ball got rolling with Palenque Records' Champeta Criolla back in 1998. A 2nd volume followed years later. Though the recent compilations have been better packaged, I find them less inspiring. Maybe its because most focus on "Afro funk" and Afro psych." Also, Fruko's Wganda Kenya and the late great Joe Arroyo produced some of the best early terapia tunes. And Soca music should be added to the list of genres that was highly influential. Kudos to Fabian and his AfroColombia website also. Looking forward to hearing this one. ken_yattahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02317087884521800934noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-425099647536010342.post-9605111665083933022013-01-25T19:13:46.999-05:002013-01-25T19:13:46.999-05:00Alejandro, thank you for writing.
