Program November 11, 2011

Lots of new music from all over the planet on Global A Go-Go this week.  We'll get started with my favorite recent releases from France -- some artists you might be familiar with (Camille, for example) and others you probably won't know (Control Tower, anyone?).

You'll hear Faraon Bantu Sound System (pictured above), the latest project from Champeta-Man Number One Lucas Silva, in a set of groovy Latin electronica.  You'll also get a sneak preview of Rokia Traore's latest project, a musical theater piece based on Othello that's written by Toni Morrison and staged by Peter Sellars.  And I'll wrap things up with a set of spoken word Afrobeat, including a brand-new recording by Trinidadian-British poet Anthony Joseph.

Listening to the podcast now and really enjoying it. Thanks for the shout out. Funny how no one counts Screams from the Gutter as WRIR's first punk show.

Be well.

Yeah, I forgot about that program. Many shows have come and gone at WRIR, but the legend that is "Gabba Gabba Hey" lives on forever.
