Some were released as singles or on EPs, so they didn't make it onto my album-based charts. Many are the outstanding tracks on albums that didn't quite crack my top albums lists. And a few are items from my favorite new releases and reissues of the year that I just didn't have time to play in the last two programs.
So let's call it "the best of the rest" -- I think it's a good way to wrap up an outstanding year in the world of world music.
