74 year old Ebo Taylor (pictured above) is one of the most important artists in the development of Afrobeat, right up there with Fela Kuti.  Believe it or not, this Ghanaian musical giant finally has his first internationally distributed solo album; you'll hear a track from it on this week's show as part of an all-Afrobeat set.

I just couldn't let the passing of Solomon Burke, my all-time favorite soul singer, go by without a commemoration, so we'll do a Soul Spot (a very occasional feature of this program) in his honor, including a not-to-be-missed 10-minute-long live recording that's as much preaching as it is singing.  The subject of Bishop Burke's homily: "The Women Of Today."
