The Richmond Folk Festival, one of the really great events of the year here, is this weekend.  If you haven't yet prepared your Folk Festival calendar, or if you want to know about what you'll be missing, I'll be playing music from five of the artists I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing at this year's Festival.

At the top of the list is Mali's Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni Ba (pictured above), one of the best contemporary African bands anywhere.  You'll also hear from Pedrito Martinez of Cuba, the Tibetan Monks From The Drepung Loseling Monastery, and since Louisiana is its own musical nation I'm including Davell Crawford and Steve Riley & The Mamou Playboys as well.
