Program March 9, 2012

We're coming down the home stretch of WRIR's Spring '12 Fund Drive, which is scheduled to wrap up on Sunday March 11 after we've raised $35,000.  If you've already donated in Spring '12, thank you -- you're keeping Richmond Independent Radio on the air for another six months and helping us improve everything that we do.

If you've donated in any of our 14 previous fund drives, thank you as well.  You've gotten us to where we are today -- one of the most successful, influential community radio stations in the USA, powered by the work of hundreds of volunteers and primarily funded by people like you who understand that citizen-made media is the real alternative to pre-digested corporate "radio" product.

And if you haven't donated yet during Spring '12, I'm here to give you a gentle reminder to do so (if the spirit moves you, of course) by calling 804-622-9747, by visiting WRIR in person at 1621-B West Broad Street in Richmond, or by clicking on this handy link:

I have a special program planned for my second and final Spring '12 Fund Drive appearance -- cover songs, Global A Go-Go style.  Now, every DJ likes to spin obscure versions of well-known songs.  But a Romanian brass band playing garage rock, or a Brazilian singer remaking Tennessee Ernie Ford, or Wagner's "The Ride Of The Valkyries" as surf-cumbia?  That's a job for Global A Go-Go.  You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll hurl -- probably all at the same time.

Thank you for supporting WRIR: Radio For The Rest Of Us and The Tower Of Low Power.  And thank you for considering making a donation during the Spring '12 Fund Drive.
